GENEVA 10 August 2023 – The Philippines discussed with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ways to expand its partnership and advocacy work on humanitarian and disarmament issues, during the meeting between Chargé d’affaires, a.i., Kristine Leilani R. Salle of the Philippine Mission to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva and ICRC Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Christine Cipolla.
Ms. Salle expressed appreciation of ICRC’s assistance in providing humanitarian aid and services to detainees, responding to emergencies, and assisting displaced persons due to armed conflicts. She conveyed the Philippines’ support to ICRC, not only on advocacies aligned with the international humanitarian law, but also in mainstreaming these in the different disarmament fora.
The Philippines has been a supporter of, and a modest yet progressive donor to the ICRC. END
