PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to the President of the Republic of Slovenia

LJUBLJANA 14 August 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas presented her credentials as Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Slovenia, to President Nataša Pirc Musar of the Republic of Slovenia during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana on 09 August 2023. During a warm exchange after the ceremony, the Slovenian President extended an open invitation to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to visit their country. 

After the ceremony, Ambassador Bernas and President Pirc Musar had an opportunity to exchange views on a number of issues of mutual interest, including climate change, the ongoing bilateral discussions regarding the proposed employment and social security agreements,  economic and tourism cooperation, and gender equality. Ambassador Bernas congratulated President Pirc Musar on Slovenia’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and expressed the continued support of the Philippines during their term. She was also able to convey the country’s condolences on the worst flooding in Slovenia that occurred over the weekend. 

Ambassador Bernas assured President Pirc Musar of her firm commitment to deepen the engagement between the Philippines and Slovenia, in both bilateral and multilateral fora.   

The Philippines and Slovenia are commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.  END.
