Philippines is Guest of Honor at Frankfurt Book Fair 2025
PHOTO: The Philippines will be the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2025. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world’s oldest and largest book fair. Since 2016, Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda has pushed for this distinction as Guest of Honor. It was late in 2015 when Karina Bolasco, then Director of the Ateneo de Manila University Press, presented the idea to support the Fair, and Legarda has done so ever since. Before the Philippines’ bid to be the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Indonesia, in 2015, was the only ASEAN country to become GOH. Today, the official Guest of Honor contract was signed in Davao City, led by the book fair’s President and CEO, Juergen Boos, and officials of National Book Development Board (NBDB), led by Chair Dante Francis Ang II and Executive Director Charisse Tugade.
