23 June 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane, in cooperation with ACTS Manila, a Philippine youth-performing ballet company, organized a free Ballet Dance Workshop for Filipino children based in Laos on June 14 at the Lao National School of Music and Dance in Vientiane.
ACTS Manila led by its Artistic Director Ms. Chelo Borromeo-Gemina visited Laos from June 11 to 16 and brought its 18-man team of young and talented ballet dancers and directors.
Eleven (11) Filipino community kids ages 5 and above, most of whom are active participants in the Embassy's Sentro Rizal activities, participated in the workshop. Each ballerina dancer focused on one Filipino community kid to train him or her on the basic steps of ballet. The kids were also taught about the correct posture and stance of a ballerina. To cap the activity, the ACTS Manila dancers performed a freestyle dance for the Filipino community kids.
Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos Maria Lumen B. Isleta expressed her heartfelt appreciation to ACTS Manila for sharing their passion for music and dance. The parents of the Filipino community kids thanked the Philippine Embassy for organizing a worthwhile and enjoyable activity for their children. END
