PH Embassy in Jordan Commemorates National Heroes Day with Special Screening of “Heneral Luna” 

AMMAN 25 August 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Jordan marked a momentous celebration of National Heroes Day on August 18, 2023, by presenting the acclaimed film “Heneral Luna” in a unique cinematic event held at the Bayanihan Hall of the Philippine Embassy. 

The event, which gathered around thirty members of the Filipino community and their children, and included Embassy personnel, was the first of its kind to be held in the new chancery. Transformed into an immersive cinematic space, the Bayanihan Hall embraced the ambiance of a movie theater, providing the perfect setting for a full experience. Upon the conclusion of the film, the participants’ positive response showed the profound impact it left, resonating with the core values of nationalism, patriotism, and comradeship that define the Filipino spirit. 

“Heneral Luna,” a historical masterpiece, depicts the life of General Antonio Luna, the Commander of the Philippine Revolutionary Army during the Philippine-American War in the 1890s. Renowned for his unwavering courage and steadfast discipline, General Luna’s legacy is vividly brought to life by the skilled craftsmanship of Artikulo Uno Productions. It has received numerous awards since its release in 2015. 

This commemorative event underscores the enduring resonance of historical narratives and their ability to unite communities across time and distance. It also forms part of the Embassy’s continuous efforts to sustain the connection of overseas Filipinos, particularly their foreign land-born children, to the motherland.
