Filipino Children’s Imaginations Unleashed in Online Storytelling Concert

AMMAN 24 August 2023 – In celebration of Buwan ng Wika 2023, the Philippine Embassy in Jordan conducted a watch party for Filipino children in Amman featuring the online storytelling event entitled “Samot-Saring Hiraya: Imagination through Filipino Stories”, organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy (DFA OPCD) in cooperation with Story House Philippines.

Philippine Ambassador Wilfredo C. Santos and Madame Geraldine C. Lucero-Santos led the Embassy’s participation in the event to promote understanding and appreciation of Filipino traditions and values through oral storytelling of Filipino folktales for children. It was a fun activity for the participating children as their imaginations were unleashed and inspired to explore the rich heritage of the Philippines through the captivating narratives of the storytellers. Laughter and a joyous atmosphere filled the Bayanihan Hall of the Philippine Embassy where the event took place. The young ones were delighted and had an enjoyable time as they listened and watched the talented storytellers of the Story House Philippines, and at the same time gaining valuable lessons from the stories.

A total of twelve (12) Filipino children and their parents, and Embassy officers and staff participated in the online storytelling concert.

Buwan ng Wika is celebrated every August of each year. This year’s Buwan ng Wika theme is: “Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika: Wika ng Kapayapaan, Seguridad, at Ingklusibong Pagpapatupad ng Katarungang Panlipunan,” as shared by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF). END
