MEXICO 04 September 2023 – With the aim of promoting ASEAN awareness and exploring opportunities for trade, the Philippine Embassy in Mexico joined four other ASEAN Embassies based in Mexico in an Official Visit to the State of Queretaro, 220 km northwest of Mexico City, on 28-29 August 2023.

Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Lilybeth R. Deapera highlighted the Philippines´ economic growth and opportunities in the Business Forum participated by Queretaro business leaders and captains on 29 August 2023.

Speaking before the group’s attentive members, Ambassador Deapera further invited the audience to take part in Manila FAME and IFEX to be held in Pasay City in October this year.

“It is my hope that our esteemed guests from the business sector of Querétaro will be encouraged to explore doing business with the Philippines,” said the Ambassador in Spanish.

The Foreign Ministry representative hailed ASEAN Embassies’ joint trade strategies and thanked the diplomatic missions for strengthening bilateral and trade relations with Mexico.

The visit also included a meeting with Queretaro Governor Mauricio Kuri Gonzalez, and a site visit to the production facility of Indorama Ventures, a Thailand-based multinational corporation, that also operates in the Philippines. Interactions with various State Cabinet members, particularly with the Secretariats of Culture, Education, and Sustainable Development presented opportunities to explore possibilities for cooperation.

The visit of the ASEAN Ambassadors to Queretaro is among the projects of the Thai Ambassador to Mexico Paisan Rupanichkij in his capacity as the current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC), a grouping of Mexico-based ASEAN Ambassadors. END
