Chargé d’Affaires Pingol hands over bouquets of flowers to the main cast of “My Dear Heart.” As part of people-to-people diplomacy and soft-power approach, Chargé d’Affaires Pingol is seen here in full formal Myanmar traditional regalia called the Tike Pone (shirt) and Longyi (equivalent to the sarong in Southern Philippines) paired with black velvet slippers called the Gatiba phanet. The simple gesture of wearing Myanmar traditional clothing has been found to be very endearing to and is welcomed by the Myanmar people as an appreciation of their cultural traditions.
