Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Calls on Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste

DILI 27 September 2023 – Sustainable food security advocate and 2023 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Eugénio "Ego" Lemos, together with his wife, Ms. Yulianti S. Wondeng, called on Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Belinda M. Ante on 22 September 2023.

Ambassador Ante congratulated Mr. Lemos for being included in the list of Ramon Magsaysay Awardees and commended him for his exemplary work on indigenous and sustainable food security in Timor-Leste.

Mr. Lemos, who also serves as Executive Director of nongovernmental organization Permakultura Timor Lorosa'e (PERMATIL), discussed his work in teaching students, teachers, and farmers how to establish a sustainable and ethical system for growing seasonal produce. He looked forward to visiting the Philippines in November 2023 to personally receive the award.

The Ramon Magsaysay Awards seeks to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations whose selfless service has led to solutions for some of the most pressing challenges to human development. END
