Multi-Awarded Poet Michael Coroza Conducts Lecture at University of Hawaii at Manoa as Part of PH Studies Program

HONOLULU 02 October 2023 – Following his lecture series on “Wika, Tula at Kundiman” (Language, Poetry, and Love Song) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa last September 26 to 28, Professor Michael Coroza, PhD, called on Consul General Emil Fernandez today to discuss the outcome of his trip and share insights on Philippine literature and oral tradition.
Professor Coroza was joined by University of Hawaii-Manoa’s Center for Philippine Studies (CPS) Director Pia Arboleda, PhD, Ms. Ces Jocson of the Department of Indo-Pacific Languages and Literatures, and Ms. Keziah Tuazon, a Filipino 101 student. Prof. Arboleda shared the positive feedback of UH Manoa students for the lecture series and their interest in learning more about the topics discussed.
The recently concluded lecture series is the first activity being organized by the CPS under the ambit of the Philippine Studies Visiting Scholars Fund (PVSF). PVSF is part of the $100,000 donation of the Philippine government to the University to strengthen its Philippine Studies Program. END
