25 June 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Rome, Italy commerated the 153rd birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19 by holding a public screening of the documentary entitled “Jose Rizal: Ang Buhay ng Isang Bayani.”
The film, written by JC Capino and directed by Butch Nolasco, gives life to the facts and events that Philippine schools teach about Rizal, using the letters, pictures and other memorabilia from the life of Rizal.
Dr. Noelle Felice Rodriguez, former Chairperson and Professor of the Ateneo de Manila Department of History, who was also the historical consultant for the documentary, introduced the film to the audience.
In his message to the Filipino community present, Consul Enrique Voltaire Pingol called on all Filipinos to emulate the teachings of Dr. Rizal on freedom, love for country, and the importance of education and the youth.
The film showing was followed by an open forum with resource person Dr. Rodriguez, the Filipino community, and the members of the Knights of Rizal-Rome Chapter. END
