Philippine Embassy Explores Partnership with Popular Chilean Travel Show Socios Por El Mundo

SANTIAGO 24 October 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Santiago, Chile, welcomed a visit from Chilean production company, Producciones Mkzeta, makers of the highly popular travel show: Socios por el Mundo (Partners Around the World). Leading the Socios por el Mundo team were one of its two hosts and one of Chile’s most popular movie and tv actors, Mr. Jorge Zabaleta. Joining him were the show’s Executive Producers, Ms. Macarena Cerda Venegas and Mr. Nicolas Esteban Opazo.
Socios por el Mundo is one of the country’s leading travel shows focusing on the imperfect journey and adventures of widely-popular Chilean personalities Jorge Zabaleta and Francisco Saavedra. Its premiere season—featuring 12 episodes shot in Morocco, Spain, Italy, and Egypt—enjoyed a viewership of approximately 4 million+ viewers from across Chile and a 93% average approval rating from travel show critics. Its second season enjoyed the same success in various visits to India, Thailand, Japan, and Uganda. The Philippines is currently shortlisted for the show’s third season, alongside Finland, Australia, and Ethiopia, to be shot in early 2024.
Philippine Ambassador to Chile H.E. Celeste Vinzon-Balatbat welcomed the show’s plan “to visit diverse parts of the Philippines, highlight its shared heritage with Chile, and showcase the country’s best touristic offerings.” She and the Embassy team recommended promising destinations, such as Cebu, El Nido-Palawan, Boracay, Manila, among other locations, as top options for the show’s overall concept and theme.
The Embassy committed to assist the production team in coordinating with various contacts in the Philippines, particularly potential partners in the tourism and media industries. END
