26 June 2014 – World-renowned Filipino painter Mr. Manuel D. Baldemor will hold a one-man art exhibit in the City of Acapulco in the State of Guerrero on 8 October 2014.  The one-month exhibit will be held at the Sala Temporario of the Museo Historico de Acapulco in  Fort San Diego, Acapulco where the ships that sailed to and from Manila during the galleon trade docked.  The proposed title of Mr. Baldermor’s exhibit is “Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade, The First Globalization, 1565 to 1815.”

Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. accompanied by Philippine Honorary Consul to Acapulco Dr. Mario de la O Almazan and Administrative Officer Bernardo Bagalay  together with Mr.  Baldemor met with museum director Dr. Victor Hugo Jasso to discuss  the preliminary administrative and logistical arrangements for the upcoming exhibit.

The art exhibit will coincide with the participation of the Philippine Embassy, in the form of a cultural presentation, during the annual celebration in October of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Festival.  The eagerly anticipated annual event draws thousands of visitors a year, not only from the State of Guerrero but from other parts of Mexico as well.

Mr. Baldemor recently concluded his well attended one-man art exhibit in Mexico City entitled “La Sincronia Filipino-Mexico” held at the Salon Tonalli of the Centro Ollin Yoztli which is part of the Embassy’s activities related to the Commemoration of the 116th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
