PH Consul General to Xiamen Delivers Message at Opening of Huaquiao University’s 18th Foreign Government Officials Chinese Learning Class

XIAMEN 31 October 2023 – Philippine Consul General in Xiamen Maria Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena delivers a message at the opening of the 18th Foreign Government Officials Chinese Learning of the Chinese Language and Culture College (CLCC) of Huaqiao University (HQU) on 20 October 2023 and welcomed foreign government officials from Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Oman, Angola and the Philippines who inscribed for the program.

At her speech, Consul General Oblena expressed appreciation to HQU for sponsoring 92 Filipino government officials from 2014 to 2023 to participate in the Course and for providing online Mandarin classes starting 16 October 2023 to Philippine foreign service post personnel in China.  She stressed the importance of HQUs work in strengthening Philippine-China understanding and in bridging positive relationships.

Huaqiao University is also providing eighty (80) Education major students of the University of Caloocan City (UCC) with online Chinese learning classes.

Consul General Oblena also met with Mr. Lin Hongyu, Vice-President of Huaqiao University and Deputy Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department Ms. Han Jiachen before the Opening Ceremony of the 18th Foreign Government Officials Chinese Class. The two officials discussed future PCG-HQU collaborations such as cultural collaborations and more people-to-people exchanges.

The Opening Ceremony of the Chinese Learning Class was followed by a celebration conference of Huaqiao University’s 70th anniversary celebration. END
