PH Consul General, Ateneo High School Professor Discuss Philippine Culture Lecture Series Held in Honolulu

HONOLULU 06 November 2023, Honolulu – Consul General Emil Fernandez received Mr. Paolo Ven B. Paculan of Ateneo de Manila High School at the Consulate last 2 November to discuss his lecture series, “Cultural Echoes: Exploring Philippine Narratives and Heritage” at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, held on 31 October, 2 November, and 3 November.
Mr. Paculan was joined by Center for Philippine Studies Director Pia Arboleda, PhD and Ms. Ces Jocson of the Department of Indo-Pacific Languages and Literatures during the call. Among the topics discussed were the importance of introducing learners to Dr. Jose Rizal’s classic literary work, Noli Me Tangere, and continuing Filipino food traditions and promoting them to the Filipino diaspora.
The lecture series is being organized by the CPS under the ambit of the Philippine Studies Visiting Scholars Fund (PVSF). Last November 23, the Philippine Government through its Consulate General in Honolulu awarded a grant of P5 million (approximately US$100,000) to UH Manoa to strengthen its Philippine Studies Program.
