HONG KONG 09 November 2023 — In commemoration of the National Indigenous Peoples Month, the Philippine Consulate General and Sentro Rizal Hong Kong launched an art exhibit entitled “MULÂ-T: Likhang Sining Alay sa mga Katutubong Pilipino” on 29 October 2023.

With this year’s theme “Buhay na Dunong: Pagkamalikhain at Kalikasan” (Living Heritage: Creativity and Nature), the exhibit unveiled a variety of remarkable artworks created by Guhit Kulay, a group of talented migrant workers and artists based in Hong Kong, which showcased the beauty and diversity of the Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines. The masterpieces featured acrylic on canvas, charcoal portrait, oil pastel on paper, graphite and ballpoint pen, watercolor, and paper clay sculptures.

Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Raly L. Tejada graced the celebration and was joined by Guhit Kulay’s co-founder, Ms. Cecil Eduarte, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. In his opening remarks, Consul General Tejada expressed his gratitude to Guhit Kulay artists for their dedication and invaluable contributions in promoting Philippine arts and culture in Hong Kong and for sharing their talent and skills with the Filipino community through art workshops. In response, Ms. Eduarte thanked Consul General Tejada and the Consulate General for their steadfast support to the Filipino creative artists in Hong Kong and hoped for more collaborations in the future.

The exhibition garnered a total of 43 guests on its opening day at the Sentro Rizal Hong Kong and ran until 05 November 2023. END
