PH Embassy, ASEAN Committee in Oslo Seek to Advance Sustainable Energy Cooperation with Norway

OSLO 10 November 2023 - The ASEAN Committee in Oslo (ACO), led by its current chair Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos, welcomed participants to the week-long Energy-Climate Nexus Study Tour in Norway for ASEAN Member States (AMS) Representatives in a special reception dinner on 6 November 2023. The occasion was held at the Official Residence of the Indonesian Ambassador to Norway Teuku Faizasyah.

On behalf of the ACO, Ambassador Fos, conveyed his appreciation to the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for bringing the AMS delegates together to Norway in support of enhancing ASEAN energy cooperation.

The study tour in the cities of Oslo and Bergen runs from 5 to 11 November 2023, and is attended by delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. They are representatives of the ministries relevant in the climate and energy sectors of the individual AMS. The lone delegate from the Philippines is Senior Science Research Specialist Jane M. Peralta from the Energy Policy and Planning Bureau of the Department of Energy.

The project was designed to enhance the knowledge and capacity of ASEAN policy makers and gain inspiration from Norway as the world transitions towards low- carbon energy systems.

Together with the ACO, the Embassy looks forward to working with relevant Norwegian agencies like NUPI, in exploring prospects for advancing Philippines, ASEAN and Norway cooperation in sustainable energy. END
