Filipina Sculptor and Immigration Lawyer Mounts “Courage”, A Solo Exhibit at the PH Embassy in Madrid

MADRID 10 November 2023 - Fresh from her recognition by the Filipina Women's Network (FWN) as 2023 Most Influential Filipina in the World, Elaine Antonio Bordeaux held a solo exhibition titled “Courage” at the Philippine Embassy in Madrid on Tuesday, 07 November 2023.

The Exhibition is a collection of sculptures that beautifully encapsulate the essence of Filipino culture and heritage while exploring the profound theme of courage. Drawing on her Filipino roots and her advocacy for refugees, Bordeaux's artwork resonates with the spirit of resilience and bravery. Her masterful use of form, texture and symbolism creates a vivid visual narrative that tells the stories of courageous individuals who have left an indelible mark on history and society. Some of the pieces in her collection were inspired by the beautiful Colorado wildlife where she lives.

Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier accompanied Ms.Bordeaux in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the exhibition. He congratulated her on her solo exhibition, and for encouraging conversation on the theme of courage in today’s trying times.  He added that the Exhibit was “a timely reminder for all of us to take courage in the face of adversity and uncertainties. It encourages us to persevere despite an increasingly troubled world, and to find hope and the strength to keep living, to keep doing what is right, to persevere.”

The Exhibit, which is part of the Philippine Embassy´s activities for Museums and Galleries month, will be on display at the Embassy, Calle de Guadalquivir 6, until Friday, 10 November 2023. END
