27 June 2014 – Department of Tourism-Shanghai (DOT-Shanghai), in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, led the Philippines’ participation in the Chongqing Tourism Carnival held from June 6 to 8 at the Chongqing Expo Center. The tourism carnival was hosted by the Chongqing Tourism Association and aimed to promote Chongqing as the tourism trade platform in Western China.
The Philippine booth, managed by Consular Attaché Niel Ballesteros of DOT-Shanghai, featured popular Philippine tourist destinations, such as Boracay, Palawan, Bohol, Laoag/Vigan, Cebu, Clark and Manila. Brochures, dried mangoes, caps and a small jeepney replica were given to the booth’s visitors as tokens.
Aside from the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and local districts in Chongqing joined the festival to promote local tourism. END
