Philippine Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Colombian President
Ambassador Joseph Gerard B. Angeles presents his Letters of Credence as Philippine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Colombian President Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego.
BRASÍLIA 20 November 2023 – Philippine Ambassador Joseph Gerard B. Angeles presented his letters of credence to Colombian President Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombia on 08 November 2023.
Ambassador Angeles conveyed to President Petro the greetings of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and expressed personal appreciation for the warm welcome and support extended by the Colombian Foreign Ministry.
Ambassador Angeles informed the President that the Philippine Government has embarked on concrete steps towards establishing a Philippine Embassy in Bogota in 2024.
Ambassador Angeles also had the opportunity to speak with Foreign Ministry officials, particularly Foreign Vice-Minister Francisco Jose Coy Granados and Director for Asia, Africa, and Oceania Nelsy Raquel Munar Jaramillo, who were thankful for the Department of Foreign Affairs’ visit with counterparts at the Colombian Foreign Ministry in preparation for the substantive agenda of the future Philippine Embassy in Bogota.
Ambassador Angeles conveyed his assurances to President Petro that he will continue to work towards the Philippines and Colombia’s mutual interests and explore new areas of cooperation. END
