Philippine Festivals and Folk Dances Featured in Asia+ Festival 2023 in Hong Kong

HONG KONG 20 November 2023 – Two Filipino Community organizations showcased Philippine festival and folk dances namely, “Manggahan Festival”, “Gaway-Gaway” and “B’laan”, performed by One Visayas Hong Kong and South Cotabato Workers Association, respectively at the grand stage of the Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances 2023 (AECP) held on 12 November 2023 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza.
AECP, a highlight program of the newly launched Asia+ Festival, celebrated the cultural diversity of different parts of Asia and Belt and Road regions. With “Crowning the Harvest Hues” as its main theme, the event transported the audience to a cultural feast discovering how Asian people revel the gift of nature. The event highlighted cultural performances from over 20 countries and regions, including stage performances and cultural display and activity booths.
In addition, the Philippines also participated in the “Charm of Hues – National Costume and Headdress Exhibition” featuring the traditional and vibrant costume of Dinagyang Festival which will run until 19 November at the Foyer of Hong Kong Cultural Centre
The program received an enthusiastic response and attracted more than 30,000 participants. END
