27 June 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou participated in the annual “May Palaro sa Guangzhou 2014” organized by the Filipino Teachers (FilTeach) Organizations based in Guangzhou, China. The sports fest was held at the South China Agricultural University Gym last May 01 and at Tianhe Sports Center last May 11.
Philippine Consul General in Guangzhou Raly L. Tejada led the symbolic lighting of the Palaro cauldron and commended the Filipino community in Guangzhou for organizing the event. He also expressed the Consulate’s appreciation, continuous support and assistance to all organizations and members of the Filipino community. Atty. Judy Razon, the Consulate’s Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) officer, also took part of the opening ceremony by leading the participants in their recitation of the oath of sportsmanship.
Immediately after the opening ceremonies, Consul General Tejada led the Philippine Consulate team in a tug-of-war game against Filipino-community organizations. Basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, bowling and billiards were among the events.
The Philippine Consulate team, composed of Consul General Tejada, Matthew Pecson, Artemio Dedil and Edgardo de Sagun, retained the overall team championship crown in bowling. END
