Siklab Albay Folkloric Group Participates in Second Indonesia International Culture Festival

JAKARTA 05 November 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina A. Jamoralin and the Philippine Embassy Officers and Staff welcomed to the chancery on 31 October 2023 the Siklab Albay Folkloric Group led by the Department of Education (DepEd) Region V Chief Francisco Bulalacao, Jr. and DepEd Albay Education Program Supervisor Minviluz P. Sampal.

The Siklab Albay Folkloric Group is composed of elementary and high school teachers from different schools in the province of Albay, Bicol Region, Philippines. 

Composed of 14 Rondalla players and 16 folkloric dancers from the Philippines, Siklab Folkoric Group presented a sample of their world class performance of a medley of traditional Philippine folk dances.  Siklab Albay’s performance featured the Maglalatik, Binasuan, Balalag, and Sinakiki. In addition, the Siklab Albay Rondalla ensemble gave their rendition of the of the following Philippine folk dances: Laro ng Lahi, Sua-ku-sua, Oasiwas, Jota Manilenya, and Kapamalong. 

The Siklab Albay Folkloric Group was in Jakarta, Indonesia from 26 October 2023 to 02 November 2023 to participate in the 2nd Indonesia International Culture Festival hosted and organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs. It aims to showcase the cultural harmony produced by different countries as one civilization. The festival brings together cultural performances by participants and cultural artists from Indonesia and 11 other countries including the Philippines. The Siklab Albay Folkloric Group won First Place in the Beach Parade Competition – Best Exploration of Dances Award.
