Potato Corner Extends Roots in China with Launch of Shanghai Outlet

SHANGHAI 22 November 2023 – Shanghai residents can now enjoy the “World's Best Flavored Fries” as Philippine global brand Potato Corner opened its first outlet in China’s financial capital on 16 November 2023.
Potato Corner’s branch at 202-2 Wujiang Road in downtown Jing’an District is the latest in the company’s network in Mainland China, following the opening of branches in Guangzhou and Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, and Hengyang in Hunan, all in 2022.
On hand to do the ribbon-cutting were President and CEO Vicente L. Gregorio of Potato Corner’s parent, Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI), Philippine Consul General in Shanghai Josel F. Ignacio, SPAVI Director Yiow Leong Tan, GM Kuan Hua Huang of Shanghai Miao Miao Shu Catering Co. Ltd., and Liwayway (China) Co. Ltd. President Larry A. Chan.
Also present were GM Adrian Campillo of Century (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd./Century Pacific Foods Inc., and Consul John Francis S. Herrera of the Consulate General.
Food tasting for guests concluded the proceedings. Attesting to enthusiasm for Potato Corner, a queue of paying customers quickly formed even before the rites concluded.
From a single mall cart in 1992, Potato Corner has grown exponentially and expanded its footprint to over 1,000 stores in the Philippines and to branches in 15 countries spanning the globe.
Potato Corner has been a consistent Best Franchisee of the Year awardee in the Philippines, and has also won the Franchisee Excellence Hall of Fame Award in 2003 and the Global Filipino Franchise Award in 2017.
