PH Embassy Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations between the Philippines and the Slovak Republic

VIENNA 04 DECEMBER 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Vienna hosted a reception on 29 November 2023 at the Park Inn by Radisson Danube in Bratislava, Slovak Republic to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Slovak Republic.

The reception, attended by officials from the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, and members of the Filipino community in the Slovak Republic, commenced with a warm welcome from long-serving Philippine Honorary Consul General to the Slovak Republic, Pavol Konštiak.

In their remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the Slovak Republic Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas and Director for Asia, Pacific, and Latin America Marek Repovský of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic acknowledged the many milestones of Fil-Slovakian cooperation and expressed optimism for future cooperation. “Our first political consultations, which had been convened at no less than the foreign minister-level in Manila, was in 2015. It is my hope that we can revive this formal mechanism of political exchange between our respective ministries in the coming year to work on issues of mutual interest more closely and identify new areas of cooperation,” Ambassador Bernas said.

In keeping with the night’s Filipino-Slovak theme, the buffet featured Slovakian canapes and traditional Filipino dishes such as, pancit guisado, chicken inasal, kutsinta, and ube leche flan. Guests were serenaded with Original Pilipino Music (OPM) courtesy of husband and wife musical duo Mr. and Mrs. Alexis Bathan from Vienna, Austria.

The event was organized by the Philippine Embassy in Vienna in close collaboration with the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in the Slovak Republic. END
