27 June 2014 - The Waka Waka Group, one of the 51 Filipino community organizations in Lebanon celebrated its 4th year anniversary on June 22 in Jounieh, Lebanon, attended by the officers and members of other Filipino community organizations and their Lebanese friends. The highlight of the celebration is a dance showdown competition participated in by members of the Filipino community.

 

Consul Dennis John Briones delivered a message on behalf of Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz to congratulate the group for staying united and to convey the Ambassador’s appreciation for their support and attendance in the recently concluded independence day activities organized by the Embassy. 

 

 

Furthermore, Consul Briones reminded the attendees that there is an on-going overseas voters registration for the 2016 presidential elections and called on the group to assist in encouraging Filipinos in Lebanon to register. He also requested the attendees to always check the security advisories posted by the Embassy in its official Facebook account.  END
