45 Artists Collaborate on Art Exhibition Commemorating 45 Years of Philippines-Bahrain Diplomatic Relations

MANAMA 11 December 2023 – The Philippine Embassy, in collaboration with the Filipino Creatives Bahrain and the Colours of the East, organized an art exhibition entitled Salam, Salamat (Greetings of peace and blessings, Thank you), at the Colours of the East gallery in Seef Mall Muharraq, Bahrain, from 04 to 14 December 2023.
A total of 45 artists, comprising 22 Filipinos and 23 Bahrainis, showcased their artworks, depicting the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation that have characterized the relations between the Philippines and Bahrain for more than four decades. The artworks of 3 young aspiring Filipino artists were also featured in the exhibition.
The exhibition was formally opened on 04 December 2023 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Philippine Ambassador Anne Jalando-on Louis, Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights Ambassador Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Bahrain National Council for Arts Chairman and Bahrain Arts Society President Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and ASEAN Bahrain Council Chairman Shaikh Daij bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Other guests included Mr. Yusuf Lori, Director for Coordination and Follow-up of the Capital Governorate, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
In her welcome remarks during the ceremony, Ambassador Louis thanked the Filipino Creatives Bahrain and the Colours of the East for collaborating with the Embassy and noted that the exhibition manifests the friendly and active engagement between the peoples of the Philippines and Bahrain.
H.E. Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa congratulated the Embassy, Filipino Creatives Bahrain and the Colours of the East for organizing this art exhibition. He acknowledged the talent and skills of the Filipino and Bahraini artists participating in the exhibition and said that such exhibitions are important to support the artists, who promote culture as well as understanding between peoples through their artworks.
Mr. Abbas Almosawi, Member of the National Council for Arts and Co-Founder of the Colours of the East, also spoke at the opening ceremony and expressed pleasure at the opportunity to collaborate with the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino artists on showcasing artworks by both Filipino and Bahraini artists to mark the 45th anniversary of Philippines-Bahrain diplomatic relations.
