27 June 2014 - Organized by the International Women’s Friendship Club, a Filipiniana fashion competition was held on June 1 at the Babel Theater in Hamra, Beirut. Twenty-nine (29) Filipino participants vied for the title of “Best in Filipiniana.”
The competition, which was preceded by a holy mass, featured traditional Filipiniana dresses in different styles and colors.
Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz delivered a message to congratulate the organizers and commend the contestants for their active participation. She also took the opportunity to invite the attendees to the Embassy-Filipino community Independence Day Food Festival and Cultural Show on June 8 and also encouraged them to register for the 2016 presidential elections.
Ms. Jasly Aceret bagged the title while Misses Myra Mendoza-Ghaoui and Fanny Alacala Terkmani were first and second runners up. Before the event ended, visiting Filipino-American singer, Mr. Timmy Pavino, and local Filipino artists took turns in entertaining the audience with their rendition of Filipino songs. END
