PHNOM PENH 11 December 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh promoted Philippine tourism and cultural destinations in the 10th Sea Festival from 1 to 3 December 2023 in Kep, Cambodia.
The Philippine Embassy set up a booth which gathered interest from young Cambodians as well as domestic and international tourists visiting Kep province. The booth showcased popular tourist destinations in the Philippines, promoted direct flights of Philippine Airlines from Phnom Penh to Manila, products of Liwayway Cambodia (Tenta snacks), as well as cultural products such as textiles, yantok sticks used for the Filipino sport arnis, and Philippine-made products such as bags and pearls. Brochures, videos, and other information materials on Philippine tourism were also distributed to visitors.
In engaging with the visitors, a number of Cambodians noted the similarities between the two cultures, citing the game sungka - featured in the booth - which is also a local game called bay khom.
Ambassador Maria Amelita C. Aquino welcomed Prime Minister Hun Manet in the Philippine Embassy booth, and informed him of the presence of Philippine companies operating in Cambodia, as well as popular coastal tourist spots in the Philippines.
The 10th Sea Festival, organized by the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia under the theme “Together for Tourism,” aims to boost tourism development in Kep and attract more domestic and international tourists to visit the coastal province. Apart from the trade and tourism booths, food stalls were also available. Cultural and entertainment performances, and sports activities were also part of the program of the festival. END
