STOCKHOLM 15 December 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Sweden Maria Lumen B. Isleta, together with the members of the Philippine Education Society (PES), launched the Filipiniana Library on Saturday, 25 November 2023 at the Philippine Embassy in Stockholm.

The Filipiniana Library aims to promote Philippine heritage through books and publications and create a deeper awareness and appreciation of Philippine culture and heritage amongst the Filipino community in Sweden, especially among the younger generations. It will contain a collection of books on Philippine history, arts and culture, literature, religion, economy, government, and other subjects.

The Library is an offshoot project of the Philippine Embassy and PES, following the successful implementation of the “Silid-Aralan sa Embahada 2023”, held from March to June 2023. The Silid-Aralan sa Embahada aims to equip students ages 5 to 17 years old with the knowledge and training on Philippine language, history, geography, culture, and traditions. A second iteration of the program is being planned for the first semester of 2024. END.
