PH Consulate General in Honolulu Conducts Annual Goodwill Visit for Filipino Fishermen

HONOLULU 19 December 2023 – The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu conducted its annual Christmas goodwill visit to Filipino fishermen stationed at Piers 17 and 36 of the Honolulu Harbor last December 14.
Consuls Pamela Durian-Bailon and Grace Bulos, supported by Assistance to Nationals Officer Hermogenes Cayabyab, Jr. and Consular Assistant Victor Alegado, distributed Christmas tokens as well as clothes, shoes, toys and books donated Consulate personnel to around 60 beneficiaries.
The annual tradition, which began in 2018, was organized by the Consulate in cooperation with the Seafarers Ministry and the Waipio Baptist Church, headed by Pastor Jerry Saludez.
Consul Bulos thanked and recognized the fishermen for their hard work and sacrifices for their families. She expressed the readiness of the Consulate to provide consular and assistance to nationals services, when necessary. She also encouraged them to register as overseas voters for the May 2025 midterm elections during the Consulate’s mobile missions to the piers and to sign-up as members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to avail of various benefits including social services, loans, training programs and scholarships, among others.
