Philippines Bags Prestigious Tourism Destination of the Year Award from Russian Industrial Union

Ambassador Igor G. Bailen received the citation and a plaque from RAUIE President/Chairman Vitaly V. Mankevich, who recognized the Philippines as a promising tourism and investment destination for Russians. 

MOSCOW 21 December 2023 - Ambassador Igor G. Bailen, on behalf of the Philippine Embassy in Moscow received the Tourism Destination of the Year award during the 6th Golden Dragon Awards on 15 December 2023 hosted by the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RAUIE), a prominent industry union in the Russian Federation.

Serving as a vital platform for implementing governmental programs and private initiatives in Russian and Asian business sectors, RAUIE has been a key local institutional partner in advancing Philippine interests through mutually-beneficial trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

At the ceremony, RAUIE President and Chairman Vitaly V. Mankevich commended the Philippines for its dedicated work, innovation, and unwavering commitment to establishing direct flights between Moscow and Manila. The esteemed award bestowed upon the Philippines serves as a testament to the nation's remarkable achievements in this regard.

President Mankevich expressed optimism about the impact of direct flights on the success of Philippine tourism and highlighted RAUIE's support in creating favorable conditions for an increased influx of Russian tourists. He emphasized that the award not only signifies a source of pride for the Philippine tourism sector but also contributes to enhancing the country's global reputation as a welcoming and attractive destination.

During his acceptance speech, Ambassador Bailen invited the members of the Union to consider the Philippines as their next travel and investment destination. 

“We have more than 7,000 islands that are sunny and warm almost all-year round. We have an open and transparent business environment that has recently included groundbreaking legislation that is friendly to foreign partners. I would like to highlight our economic reforms in the key public services sector that have made 100 percent foreign ownership possible, “said Ambassador Bailen. END
