Davao-Manado Air Connectivity Stakeholders Meeting Hosted by PH Consulate General

MANADO 09 January 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Manado hosted the “Davao-Manado Air Connectivity Stakeholders Meeting” on 04 January 2024. 

The 34-member Philippine Delegation headed by the Mindanao Development Authority Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary Romeo M. Montenegro, and Leading Edge Air Services Corporation (LEASCOR), the aviation arm of ACDI Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC), arrived on a special charter plane that LEASCOR uses in its domestic charter flights in the Philippines. 

Philippine Consul General to Manado Lolita B. Capco, in her welcome remarks, highlighted the route of Davao and Manado in further invigorating Philippines-Indonesia relations which is celebrating its 75th Year Anniversary in 2024. 

MinDA Deputy Executive Director Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro emphasized the importance of re-establishing the air linkages, fostering economic activities and cultural exchanges between Davao and Manado. 

Manado Mayor Andrei Angouw, Bitung City Mayor Maurits Mantiri, Representative of the Governor of North Sulawesi and Representative of the Mayor of Tomohon lent their active support to the Business Mission. Mayor Angouw said that trade and connectivity must go hand in hand and that key leaders and stakeholders of Davao–Manado including private sector players must develop a concrete approach to sustain the flight.

MinDA, spearheading the Mission, will organize meetings of sectoral working groups for a more focused discussion. END 

An estimated 90 participants both from the public and private sectors in Mindanao and North Sulawesi were present during the event, including from BIMP-EAGA, North Sulawesi Provincial Tourism Office, travel agencies and other interested participants. (Manado PCG photo)
