30 June 2014 - Renowned Filipino painter Manuel D. Baldemor held another painting workshop with Mexican students on June 26.
Mr. Baldemor was eagerly received by 54 students from Grades I to VI of the Escuela Primaria Escuadrón 201 who joined his workshop for an hour. Municipal Mayor Francisco Navarrete Conde, his wife Denia, the school principal, municipal counselors, members of the press, the Ambassador and the staff of the Philippine Embassy in Mexico were present during the workshop.
The artist prepared sketches for the workshop that included images of his views on Mexico, such as archeological sites, churches, religious icons and fruits common to the Philippines and Mexico.
Baldemor expressed his pleasure at mentoring young people because of their pure and creative minds. He encouraged the Mexican children by saying that they could even surpass his paintings since they were already familiar with the designs and colors of the drawings that he prepared.
Certificates of participation were issued to the children and their drawings were given to them as souvenirs.
After the workshop, Mayor Navarrete and his staff gave a tour to Embassy personnel and Mr. Baldemor of Tepoztlan’s forest reserves and historical sites.
Tepoztlan is a town in the State of Morelos and is about one-and-a half hours from Mexico City. It has a population of 15,00 and it is famous for its pyramid located on top of the mountain. END
