Philippine Delegates to Consumer Electronics Show 2024 Get Insights from Bay Area, Silicon Valley Companies

SAN FRANCISCO 22 January 2024 – The Philippine delegation visited San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley companies in a business mission following their participation in the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, that aims to foster collaborations with global innovators and stay up-to-date on developments in startup ecosystems, technology, and innovation.
The Philippine delegation was led by Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba of the Department of Trade and Industry, Undersecretary Maridon Sahagun of the Department of Science and Technology, Undersecretary Heherson Asiddao of the Department of Information and Communications Technology, and Director General Tereso Panga of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
Among the Philippine companies that were part of the 2024 CES delegation were: the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation Inc. (SEIPI) led by its President, Dr. Dan Lachica; EMS Pureplay Inc.; Ionics EMS Inc., GMV Materials Inc.; Gruppo EMS Inc.; and energy company Meralco.
The delegation visited IBM Almaden, Plug and Play, Atom Computing, the University of California Berkeley’s NSF Challenge Institute for Quantum Computation, Autodesk, Mind the Bridge, and Dynamico Space.
Consul General Neil Ferrer welcomed the delegation to the Philippine Center, and highlighted the work of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco in fostering collaborations and exploring opportunities for business engagements in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.
“We appreciate the work of the Philippine delegation to the CES 2024 and we stand ready to support you in fostering innovation and growth of the startup ecosystem in the Philippines,” Consul General Ferrer said.
Dynamico Space founder and CEO JR Calanoc made a presentation to the group about his firm’s work, especially in supporting the growth of Philippine startups. The co-working space located at the Philippine Center in San Francisco also offers digital and media support services. END
