PH Ambassador to Sweden Meets with Viral “Leron Leron Sinta” Swedish Choir

STOCKHOLM 23 January 2024 – Philippine Ambassador to Sweden Maria Lumen B. Isleta met with Ms. Kerstin Börjesson, Conductor of Hägersten A Cappella Choir last 16 January 2024. 

Hägersten A Cappella is a choir group of the Swedish church in Hägersten, Stockholm, Sweden. The group consists of 40 members aged 18-35 and is actively participating in events of its parish church. Several of the choir's members have been involved in the group for many years.

The Swedish Choir participated in the 2022 Baltic Sea Choir Competition in Latvia. With their winning song was the Filipino folk song “Leron Leron Sinta” which also went viral on social media and has been reported on by CNN Philippines. The choir won the grand prize, best conductor and best compulsory piece.  

The conductor, Ms. Börjesson revealed that the piece for “Leron Leron Sinta” was shared to her by a Filipina friend based in the United States, and she thought the piece to be very lively and fun, and that the arrangement enabled them to showcase their range and talent.

Also present during the meeting were choir member Carl Jonas Wiklander and Consul Pat Lester F. Solosa.
