MADRID 31 JANUARY 2024 – The 2024 edition of the Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR), which ran from 24 to 28 January 2024 at the IFEMA Convention Center in Madrid, opened the doors once again to the world’s tourism market, with thousands of prospective tourists visiting the Philippine pavilion.

In his remarks, Philippine Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier galvanized the Philippine team to use tourism to boost the nation’s GDP and skyrocket national and local opportunities for business and employment.

The Philippine pavilion captured the essence of Filipino hospitality and the relaxing ambience and versatility of the “bahay kubo” and also launched the new PH Tourism brand “Love the Philippines.”

The official FITUR delegation was composed of Senator Nancy Binay, Chair of the Senate Committee on Tourism, DOT officials headed by Asec. Gissella Romualdez-Quisumbing, together with around 22 members of the House of Representatives from various districts.

Several mainstay travel agencies and new tour operators in the Philippines, including Megaworld, joined the team to promote the unique and exciting tourism products of the Philippines.

FITUR is the largest tourism fair of Spain, with a total number of 222,000 attendees last year, grouping together 8,500 travel and tourism-related companies, 131 countries and 755 exhibitors.

FITUR is an event organized by IFEMA Madrid spanning five days (from 24 to 28 January 2024) and welcomes both trade visitors from the tourism industry interested in the latest industry trends, and the general public who come for first-hand information about the destinations on show. END
