PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to Panamanian President

PANAMA 05 February 2024— Philippine Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera presented her credentials as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen of the Republic of Panama in a ceremony held at the Palacios de Las Garzas on 25 January 2024.
Ambassador Deapera was one of the 16 Ambassadors newly accredited to Panama.P resident Cortizo and was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, in receiving the letters of credence.
In a brief téte-á-téte, Ambassador Deapera expressed appreciation for the opportunity to present her credentials and the support given by the Republic of Panama to the Republic of the Philippines in a number of candidatures that it fielded.
During her visit, Ambassador Deapera also met with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Agricultural Development, and Commerce and Industries. She likewise held a meet and greet with the members of the Filipino Community. In 2022, 178 Filipinos were registered to be residing in Panama, majority of whom are household workers.
The Philippines and Panama celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations in 2023, which was formally established on 28 September 1973. END.
