PH Delegation Seeks to Advance Offshore Wind Development Cooperation with Norway

OSLO 13 February 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Oslo joined a week-long study trip on Offshore Wind (OSW) and Bilateral/Associated Meetings of a Philippine delegation composed of representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) and the private sector from 29 January to 2 February 2024.
Joined by Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos and First Secretary and Consul Glenn Joseph Obach, the Philippine delegation participated in briefings, site visits and meetings at Norwegian government agencies and private companies in Oslo and Haugesund.
The Philippine delegation highlighted the country's offshore wind development in the current administration´s Philippine Energy Transition Plan. Matters on value chains relevant in the renewable energy sector particularly in offshore wind projects, including shipping and maritime issues, were also discussed.
DOE Undersecretary Sharon S. Garin headed the Philippine delegation, joined by DOE Undersecretary Giovanni Carlo J. Bacordo, DOTr Undersecretary Elmer Sarmiento, DOE Directors Marissa P. Cerezo and Irma C. Exconde, DOE Head Executive Assistant of the Office of the Secretary Rowena M. Tolentino, PNOC Department Managers Ma. Rowena Raymundo and Alma Taganas, and private sector representatives ACEN Assistant Vice President Deo Custodio, BlueFloat Energy Senior Business Development Manager Myriam Samba, and Philippines-Norway Business Council President Carl Martin Faannessen. Business and Trade Adviser Ana-Maria Francesca Florentino of the Norwegian Embassy in Manila and Maria Jensen of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied the delegation.
Ambassador Fos welcomed the Philippine delegation in a special reception dinner at his official residence on 29 January 2024 and hosted a farewell lunch at the Chancery on 1 February 2024.
Together with the Norwegian Embassy in Manila, the Philippine Embassy in Oslo looks forward to working with relevant Norwegian and Philippine agencies in exploring prospects for advancing Philippines-Norway cooperation towards energy transition. END
