NEW DELHI 16 February 2024 – Indian tourists, among the world’s top three fastest-growing outbound travel markets, caught the “Love the Philippines” fever as the country’s Pavilion and destinations won over attendees at the prestigious Outbound Travel Market (OTM) 2024 event in Mumbai on 8-10 February.

Held at Mumbai's sprawling Jio World Convention Center, OTM 2024 attracted over 1,600 exhibitors from 60 countries and more than 30 Indian states and territories, solidifying its reputation as one of the must-attend travel events in the Asia-Pacific. Decked in a panoply of its major tourist attractions, the Philippine Pavilion buzzed with foot traffic, networking and other activities, throughout the event.

Capping Philippine participation was the Philippine Networking Night on February 8, which drew in a diverse and enthusiastic audience of Indian and foreign business executives, tour and travel operators, and travel enthusiasts that gave testament to the allure of the archipelago’s tourism. Helming the event were the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).

The high attendance mirrored the growing interest and “destination curiosity” towards the Philippines among Indians. With incomes rising in tandem with India’s vibrant economy, Indians are looking beyond cliché Southeast Asian stops, and are drawn by the reputation of the Philippines’ topnotch tropical, urban and heritage attractions, and the ease of overcoming language barriers with its English-speaking population.

OTM is the latest in the Philippines’ bid to promote itself to the rapidly expanding market of outbound tourists from India, and to realize the potential of the Philippine tourism sector. END
