PH Consulate General in Hong Kong Launches “Sining Malaya” Art Corner

HONG KONG 19 February 2024 – In celebration of National Arts Month 2024, the Consulate General of the Philippines and Sentro Rizal Hong Kong recently launched the Sining Malaya Art Corner on 11 February 2024 at the PCG Public Area. Sining Malaya, the Post’s official “Freedom Art Wall”, seeks to further promote the artistry and creativity of Hong Kong-based Filipino artists, and provide them a free space to showcase their expressive and unique craft with a wider audience.
Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan led the unveiling of the art corner which was held after the flag-raising ceremony with the members of the Filipino Community. In her opening remarks, Consul General Aguilar-Usudan shared that through the launching of Sining Malaya, Filipino artists will be given an opportunity to share their stories, inspire others and contribute to the rich tapestry of Philippine arts in the territory.
During the short program, Vice Consul Allan G. Revote introduced Sining Malaya’s first featured artist of the month, Mr. Lorelito “Dong” Eludo, a Hong Kong-based mixed media artist who currently works as a product designer. The audience was treated to four (4) of the exceptional watercolor paintings of Mr. Eludo entitled, “Journey”, “Tranquility”, “City Lights” and “Stream”. Through a short video message, Mr. Eludo expressed his appreciation for having been selected to participate in the Consulate’s initiative. He also encouraged everyone to support the thriving Filipino artistic community in Hong Kong and to continue exploring other forms of art as means of self-expression.
Artworks of talented Filipino artists in Hong Kong may be viewed for free at Sining Malaya Art Corner located at the PCG public area from Sundays to Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. END
