NEW DELHI 04 March 2024 –  The Philippines’ Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector stole the limelight at the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum (NTLF) 2024 held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on 20-21 February.

Asia’s preeminent tech event, the annual NTLF is a mecca for policymakers, industry players, C-suite executives, startups, academicians and experts. The event offers participants the chance to stay abreast and ahead of current and emerging tech trends and issues, and to zero in on opportunities to grow their businesses.

The Philippines was an NTLF “partner country” for the year. The IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), champion of the local IT-BPM industry, partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi to drive home the Philippines’ advantages and unmatched attractiveness to participants, especially prospective investors.

On 20 February, Philippine Ambassador-designate to India Josel F. Ignacio delivered a compelling talk at NTLF’s center stage on the edge enjoyed by investors in the Philippine IT-BPM sector. The envoy laid out the country’s unmatched advantages: a rich and deep pool of young, adaptable talents; broad service range; wealth of incentives; and a strong government-private partnership for upskilling to adapt to new trends.

At the adjacent exhibition hall, meanwhile, the Philippine Booth attended to a steady stream of industry players keen to explore and invest in the country’s IT-BPM landscape and build synergistic relationships.

On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador-designate Ignacio held meetings to bolster the Embassy’s own diplomatic diplomacy in support of further shoring up the leading position of Philippine IT-BPM. He met with the IBPAP-led delegation that flew in from Manila, headed by its CEO and President Mr. Jack R. Madrid, and representatives of key players such as AON and Cloudstaff.

Later that day, he met with Mr. Rajesh Nambiar, Chairman & Managing Director of  Cognizant, a mainstay in the country since 2009, with operations in Manila and multiple other regions.

“Our attendance at NTLF with IBPAP echoes our strategic drive to shore up the Philippines edge and capabilities in the IT-BPM sector, and our position in the global market”, said the Ambassador-Designate, who began his professional career in the early 1990s in the sector.

The IT-BPM industry is a significant contribution to Philippine development, accounting for a solid 8.4% of GDP and employing about 1.7 million Filipinos. While leading in voice services, it has rapidly expanded capabilities and upskilled talent to deliver a broad array of comprehensive service offerings, including healthcare, animation, and game development.
