LIECHTENSTEIN 06 March 2024 – Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland Bernard Faustino M. Dy presented his credentials as non-resident Ambassador to the Principality of Liechtenstein to His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince Alois on 04 March 2024 in Vaduz Castle.
Shortly before his audience with the Hereditary Prince, Ambassador Dy paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sport Dominique Hasler. They discussed a number of important issues between the Philippines and Liechtenstein, including climate change, regional and global issues, and improving trade and investment relations. The Philippines has a Free Trade Agreement with the European Free Trade Association, of which Liechtenstein is a member. The FTA has been in force since 2018.
Following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Dy had a brief audience with Hereditary Prince Alois. The Hereditary Prince said that he hopes trade between the Philippines and Liechtenstein would continue to improve under the Philippines-EFTA FTA. He also expressed appreciation for the dedication and strong work ethic of Filipinos in Liechtenstein. There are an estimated 25 Filipinos in the Principality.
The Philippines and Liechtenstein formally established bilateral relations on 24 November 1995 and will mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.
