MANAMA 12 March 2024 - The Philippine Embassy’s Migrant Workers Office (MWO), in cooperation with the Bahrain Recruitment Society (BRS), organized a "Briefing on the Responsible Recruitment of Filipino Workers in the Kingdom of Bahrain" at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, on 29 February 2024.

The Briefing was attended by a total of 145 participants, comprising the owners and Welfare Desk Officers of 62 Foreign Recruitment Agencies (FRAs) in Bahrain. During the Briefing, the participants were provided with important updates on the Philippine regulations and procedures for the hiring and deployment of Filipino workers as well as on the labor and recruitment laws of Bahrain. The discussions at the briefing also addressed several issues and recommended solutions to problems concerning OFWs and their sponsors or agencies.

The resource speakers during the event included officials from the Migrant Workers Office and OWWA-Bahrain and from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and representatives from the Bahrain Recruitment Society (BRS).

In her Keynote Address, Philippine Ambassador in Bahrain Anne Jalando-on Louis conveyed her appreciation to the LMRA and to BRS for partnering with the Embassy in promoting responsible, fair, and ethical recruitment and ensuring the protection of the rights of Filipino workers. She likewise highlighted the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in implementing labor reforms with emphasis on human rights and fair migration policies and noted the strong cooperation between the Philippines and Bahrain in the field of labor and within the framework of the United Nations Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) .END
