PH Consulate General Hosts MTRCB’s “Responsableng Panonood” Seminar in Hong Kong

HONG KONG 19 March 2024 – The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong warmly welcomed the officials from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) during their courtesy visit last 14 March 2024 following their participation in the Asia Video Summit organized by the Asia Video Industry Association.

During the visit, MTRCB Chairperson Diorella “Lala” Sotto-Antonio, together with MTRCB Board Member Maria Carmen “Keats” S. Musngi and Public Relations Officer Alyanna Tobia, presented among the Consulate personnel the “Responsableng Panonood – Long Distance Parenting Seminar”, which aims to promote responsible media consumption. The seminar provided sixty participants with guidance on discerning the impact of media content on individuals and families, particularly children.

Chairperson Sotto-Antonio highlighted that the program is part of MTRCB’s continued advocacy of empowering Filipino viewers through media and digital literacy. She emphasized the important role that parents and guardians play in promoting responsible viewership for children, even when they are abroad.

As the first overseas recipient of the campaign, Philippine Consul General Germinia V. Aguilar-Usudan expressed her appreciation to MTRCB for introducing practical ways to evaluate and choose entertainment content wisely. She challenged the participants to be agents for responsible media consumption.

With the aim of fostering a media-literate society that benefits individuals, families and communities, the Consulate and MTRCB expressed shared commitment to hold Responsableng Panonood Seminar again in the future, intended for Overseas Filipinos in Hong Kong.
