Philippines Contributes Again to Humanitarian Fund for Rohingya

GENEVA 21 March 2024 - The Philippines reiterated its continued support for safe, efficient, and timely delivery of humanitarian aid for displaced Rohingya, during the Launch of the 2024 Joint Response Plan (JRP) for the Rohingya Humanitarian Crisis held at the Palais des Nations on 13 March 2024.
During the launch, Deputy Permanent Representative Kristine Salle announced the Philippines’ intention to contribute to the 2024 JRP, which will aim to address the humanitarian crisis by providing basic needs and services of refugees and host communities. The Philippines has been a donor to the fund during the past few years, part of the country’s commitment to burden and responsibility sharing.
Deputy Permanent Representative Salle also shared the Philippines’ initiatives, such as the Complementary Pathways Program for Rohingya students, as well as its cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on issues related to the Rakhine State.
The launch was hosted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. END
