Over 500 Filipinos in Barcelona Benefit from Weekend Service Caravan at PH Consulate General

BARCELONA 22 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona successfully hosted a comprehensive service caravan on 16-17 March 2024, offering a broad array of services including the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Migrant Workers' Office (MWO) programs. The event also provided consular services and overseas voting registration, serving a combined total of over 500 individuals who availed themselves of the assistance offered.
Reflecting on the caravan's impact, Consul General Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro stated, "Our mission is to simplify access to essential services for Filipinos in Barcelona, ensuring they feel supported, by offering services on a weekend. This weekend's event underscored our dedication to our community's welfare and our ongoing commitment to serve."
An additional highlight of the weekend was a Coffee Barista Training Workshop held on the evening of Saturday, 16 March 2024. Organized by OWWA, the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona offered its support, emphasizing the collaborative effort to provide skill enhancement opportunities for Filipinos in the region. The workshop saw participation from over 40 individuals, focusing on imparting valuable skills relevant to the hospitality and coffee sectors. This program is reflective of the Consulate and OWWA's ongoing mission to understand and respond to the community's needs through consistent skills training programs, thereby fostering professional growth and development within the Filipino community in Barcelona.
