OSLO 25 March 2024 – In support of the Philippine government's current energy plan towards attaining a clean energy future, the Philippine Embassy in Oslo hosted the ASEAN Committee in Oslo (ACO) Forum on Norwegian Renewables Industry on 13 March 2024 at its Chancery.
In his welcome address, Philippine Ambassador to Norway Enrico T. Fos presented the ASEAN region as being endowed with potential renewable sources that can provide local and affordable alternatives to fossil fuels. He also shared the region´s interest to collaborate with the Norwegian energy industry and enhance energy cooperation in the region.
The program included energy policy updates from each ASEAN diplomatic mission resident in Norway. Ambassador Fos highlighted the statement of Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that “renewable energy is the way forward,” and that the Philippines is “aggressively promoting renewables so that it provides a 35% share in the power mix by 2030, and then on to 50% by 2040.” Ambassador Fos further reiterated that the Philippines has opened renewable energy projects to foreign investments to accelerate the realization of this green energy goal.
Over a dozen Norwegian companies in the renewable energy industry participated in the event which was conducted by the Philippine Embassy in cooperation with the Singapore-Norway Chamber of Commerce (SNCC) and the Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP). Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, Innovation Norway and Nor-Shipping were also present.
