PH Embassy in Riyadh Hosts Grand Iftar and Qur’an Reading Exhibition

RIYADH 05 April 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh held a special Iftar program and Quran reading exhibition on 27 March 2024, at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter. The event brought together members of the Filipino and Saudi communities, along with representatives of the media, to celebrate solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Philippine Embassy Charge d'Affaires Rommel Romato delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of community in both Islamic and Christian faiths. He referenced historical examples of community building in Islam and Christianity and drew parallels to the importance of collaboration in today's world.

The program featured Quran recitations by six Filipino Islamic scholars from various Saudi universities. These recitations served as a gesture of gratitude to the host government and a celebration of the strong ties between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
The event coincided with the celebration of 55 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. Mr. Romato also highlighted the Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines) theme, emphasizing the government's commitment to promoting unity in diversity among Filipinos toward a better Philippines. The Iftar and Quran reading aimed to strengthen connections between the embassy and its partners in Saudi Arabia, and the wider communities. END
