Philippine Football Teams to Participate in Norway Cup 2024

OSLO 26 April 2024 – Eight years after its last participation in 2016, the Philippines will once again send teams to the Norway Cup which will be held in Oslo on 27 July to 3 August 2024. 

In a meeting with Norway Cup event coordinator Toril Kristoffersen on 23 April 2024, the Embassy was informed that the Philippines is confirmed to be sending three  teams to participate in the annual football tournament for young people.

The three teams, composed of boys 17-19 age group, boys 15-16 age group, and girls 15-16 age group, are coming from the Leyte Association of Organized Sports FC (LAOS FC).

Organized in 1972, Norway Cup is the world’s largest football tournament for children and young people aged 10 to 19 years old. In 2023, 2,183 teams from 35 countries participated in the one-week tournament, garnering an estimated influx of 80,000 foreign and local visitors. 


Since 2017, Norway Cup has aligned its work in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It has been using this annual football tournament as a platform to raise awareness about the SDG. Norway Cup 2024 theme for the year is focused on SDG Goal 5 (Gender Equality). END
